Food Container Buildings

Food containers are a great item for building up a gaming board, or as a means of setting up the background for your players, there are many different containers out there of different sizes and shapes and many have a nice sci-fi feel to them as well.

There are a lot of Web sites that carry lots of building add ons doors, windows and roof items as well.
  • Ground Zero Games
  • Micopanzer
  • The Scene
The containers posted here are from different sources;

                                                  This one was containing mushrooms.

This one was containing meat from "Aldi's" would make for a great warehouse.

This one is also a meat container from "Aldi's" only larger and again would make for a great warehouse.

The "Aldi's ones I'm still thing of a way to make them open up so as to play through them as well as around them.

This one is from "Oscar Meyer"s Lunchables".

This one was from "Swiss Colony".

This one was from "Swiss Colony" as well,  it's rather large as you can see from the photo.

You could also check out HO Scale trains as well to dress up you buildings of scratch build items as well.

A good base for mounting your buildings on would be thin sheets of Plexiglass, it takes glues well thin and light weight resist warping and the corners will not bend.

I would also suggest filling the larger containers with foam or something to stiffen them up the roof's will flex a bit if not and could pop your details off during gaming and such.

As you can see I have quite the collection going on here and I have multiples of each one posted, I can fill a rather large table.

So now get out there eat well and play well.

Spring is Coming

Okay so Spring is coming and here's a source for something free, Polyvinyl styrene signs that if you know someone, or make a contact at Home Depot. You could score their used signs, similar as the one pictured below

The ones they use in the store are of cardboard but the ones that they use outdoors are a polyvinyl styrene of some kind you can scribe them and they will snap off at the scribe line. They have other similar signs that one might be able to get as well, when they reset a display some are thicker then others, may take you awhile to score those but hey you can get them for free.

So get to know someone in their Outdoors Lawn and Garden. I have stacks of their used ones as of now, and can't wait for Spring to get going with gluing and painting

Storage Tanks

Just another thing that will work for the gaming table PVC pipe caps as storage tanks

The tops can be found rounded like these showed here or flat as well, add some wire for pipes and other fittings paint and your good to go

You can make them look a little taller just by adding a stub of PVC pipe in them as if they were on a stand of sorts

Glue two together and they can be tanks laid on their sides just add stands, and you can get them in almost any size for you gaming needs,

I will be using them as storage and fuel tanks for my ship projects

Sci-Fi Beds, Tables or Roof Top Stuff

I came across some plastic furniture plugs the other day at my local junk store, when the thought hit me these little guys would be great for beds for Sci-fi terrain in just about any setting, the added benefit is you can get them in almost any size as well as most shapes rectangle, square, round and oval.

They can be 6mm buildings, or 15mm terrain stuff as well as 28mm stuff,
So here's the list of some ideas,

  • Beds.
  • Tables.
  • Roof Top Vents and decor.
  • Exam Tables.
  • Medical Beds for sick bay.

Turn them over and they can be,

  • Bath Tubs.
  • Planters
  • Aguaponic Pools
  • Vats
  • Fountains
And the list of ideas goes on.

Now run out there and make some cool stuff for your gaming table.

Ships Computer Idea

Needing a lot of ship's computers, for 15mm for my ship idea and project. I came across CAT 5 male connecters that have a sort of  large wall computer look and found that I can get 25 per pack at Home Depot for about 10 dollars.

That a lot of computers for most every ones needs.

Of course they don't have to be just for ships, they can be use for any of your computer needs as well, on your gaming terrain

Building a Starship

I got the idea when surfing this site http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/  and found a ship that was built for "Star Wars" using the larger figures for the Star Wars RPG games

This thing is 12 feet long!! Plus it's 2 feet wide

Used to play 28mm or a little larger scale for the Star Wars RGP figures

So why not build one that's for 15mm play action.

I can get a lot more stuff built into it and maybe add taller bulkheads for catwalks or maintenance corridors of sorts that runs down the middle the length of the ship.

Okay the plan is to make it almost as long and widen a section to 3 feet wide then another to 4 feet giving it more of a wedge look and with all sorts of gizmo's.

Using the same materials used in the description of the ship that inspired this project will mostly be the same, using luan, foam board, card stock and plastic card and lots of other odds and ends.

It will be built in sections for ease of setup, moving and storage.

looking forward to the Traveller games, Alien bug hunt, and others scenarios

The gathering of materials has begun
