Spaceship Crash Site

New project is a Derelict Space Craft, using three separate section pieces, I could then place them altogether as one drifting in space or have them spread out, making them three different section of a crash site where I can spread them across the terrain to investigate.

So I have started with the bridge and crew section there is the bridge it's self then two airlock sections followed by the crew's bunk section. I wanted to make it look like a derelict, I figured that I would need some missing panels.

Thus exposing the interior of the panel so I needed some thing for inside the open panels, with a piece of housing wire, using the copper wire and small bits of the insulation I know I could some nice looking piping and alike.

So this is a start, I need to make a cargo section, and an engine section as well. I also need to make some special terrain pieces that would support each section for a crash site. I can't wait to get these on the gaming table.

Spring is Coming

Okay so Spring is coming and here's a source for something free, Polyvinyl styrene signs that if you know someone, or make a contact at Home Depot. You could score their used signs, similar as the one pictured below

The ones they use in the store are of cardboard but the ones that they use outdoors are a polyvinyl styrene of some kind you can scribe them and they will snap off at the scribe line. They have other similar signs that one might be able to get as well, when they reset a display some are thicker then others, may take you awhile to score those but hey you can get them for free.

So get to know someone in their Outdoors Lawn and Garden. I have stacks of their used ones as of now, and can't wait for Spring to get going with gluing and painting

Sci-Fi Beds, Tables or Roof Top Stuff

I came across some plastic furniture plugs the other day at my local junk store, when the thought hit me these little guys would be great for beds for Sci-fi terrain in just about any setting, the added benefit is you can get them in almost any size as well as most shapes rectangle, square, round and oval.

They can be 6mm buildings, or 15mm terrain stuff as well as 28mm stuff,
So here's the list of some ideas,

  • Beds.
  • Tables.
  • Roof Top Vents and decor.
  • Exam Tables.
  • Medical Beds for sick bay.

Turn them over and they can be,

  • Bath Tubs.
  • Planters
  • Aguaponic Pools
  • Vats
  • Fountains
And the list of ideas goes on.

Now run out there and make some cool stuff for your gaming table.

Ships Computer Idea

Needing a lot of ship's computers, for 15mm for my ship idea and project. I came across CAT 5 male connecters that have a sort of  large wall computer look and found that I can get 25 per pack at Home Depot for about 10 dollars.

That a lot of computers for most every ones needs.

Of course they don't have to be just for ships, they can be use for any of your computer needs as well, on your gaming terrain

Shipwreak

Shipwreck

The idea came to me when I received my Mega Minis "Salvage Crew" and I thought they need something to salvage, duh that's a no brainer, So I first thought why not a crashed spaceship and how was I going to go about this. I figured it had to be in sections for ease of moving it around and then how big, after all it's has to fit on a small gaming table and what sections, so I came up with the idea of four sections, a bridge section, two cargo sections and an engine section.

Based off of this picture

Then what shape to make it in. A box or square sort of shape with square edges and an angled hull would be the easiest to make and to cover it in card stock, then it would to make a round rounded with lots of curves and bends, hey mama didn't raise no fool.

So something like this comes to mind but in four sections

I sketched up the sections on 1/2 inch grid paper to get a feel and the idea of size. http://www.printfreegraphpaper.com/

Four separate sections, for the main hull and two wing like sections, each section could be used as stand alone terrain piece or put all six together as one big terrain piece with room to move between each section and space for movement in and on each section.

On 12x12 inch MDF board would allow it all to be on a 4 foot table or spread out over a larger table

I can dress up the shipwreck with tips from this link http://www.happinessismandatory.com/misc/Tutorial/  and download PDFs referring to scratch building.

Plus I can build up the interior walls using some of the ideas here http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251905-scratch-build-bt-thunderhawk/ can make the inner walls looking something like this picture from the link above.

This site is more for  the War Hammer 40K stuff but full of pages of great ideas

A visit to my local junk shop where I can get all kinds electronic stuff cheap. should help dress it up nice, you would be surprise how a hand full of electronic parts can dress up a wall and make it look busy

Foam core board and card stock will be the main material, with lots of wire and wood dowels of different sizes plus different wood flat and round shapes, beads and bits from the local craft shop.

Craft gems from the craft store, based on size the square ones, the oval ones and round ones  make for great hatches and other odds and ends

Watch gears and parts for engine room stuff and other things as well.

Well this just the beginning, figured this would be a good practice run before I start the Star ship Project posted information about it earlier.

I'm hoping this helps give you all ideas for your own projects.
