15mm Post Apocalypse Scooby-Doo And Gang

So I got this idea from seeing the covers of "Apocalypse Scooby-Doo" Comic Books. The first thing was can i get some figures that would work close enough for my project. After looking around I found some figures that I can use, Rebel Minis "Apocalypse Survivalist" there are six poses in a set of twelve figures in this set so you get two of each but I only need to use four of the poses. Luckily I have a set on hand for me to look over as to which ones will be part of the Gang. After some time thinking which four, I came to my conclusion as to which ones they are.

So from left to right (photo from Rebel Minis) Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne.  Now I need to make some changes, I want to make a couple of head swaps for Shaggy and Fred with some heads from Peter Pig I have the heads on hand but miss placed my pin vise to drill out the neck area to receive the stem for the new heads. I had to order a new set and currently waiting on the mail system. I also need to add some Green Stuff for the additional changes.

For a Scooby-Doo, Alternative Armies has a great figure for that in their "Armored Elf Beast Masters" set in the HOT Fantasy range. The bonus is you can just order the dogs themselves in a set of four.

Here I just need to add some Green Stuff for the head harness and add a great paint job. I am still debating as to whether or not to add a body harness with pouches.

Now we need a "Mystery Machine" Here I decided to go with Hot Wheels Baja Breaker Van

I have one on the way from Ebay, for under $5.00. It will need a Mystery Machine paint job Apocalypse style. Plus I am going to add additional items that one may have during an Apocalypse.

I am waiting for all things to come together to go further at this time. In the meantime I am working on some buildings for this project that I hope to post soon.

My Sculpting Continues

I am still continuing to work on my figure sculpting. I have two more figures to add to the crew and two more that I am working on. I picked up a couple more rubber stoppers, as to have four more sets of figure  armatures ready to start on the other half of this crew.

The starting crew will consist on of;

 A Captain.

First Officer.

Two Science Members of different Science backgrounds.

Two Medical Members one Doctor, one Medic.

Two Engineers of different Engineering backgrounds.

One Security Officer.

Two Ship's Security Members. (No Red Shirts will be issued) 😆

One Communications Member.

This is to get things going and to be able to start gaming with on the table. Of course backgrounds for each character need to be written up and stats made. But it will be a good size team to start. I may think of adding more members later.

So Here is the two newest members;

GZG Figure for Scale

Hopefully I can get around to finish their bases and painting them soon. I still need to make their ship or at lease some kind of a floor plan.

My Sculpting Challenge

Being new to sculpting, I have to challenge myself at it. I am learning many new things about sculpting with Green Stuff and armatures for the bones of the sculpture.

I figured I should sculpture a 15mm Human figure probably the greatest challenge any artist can attempt and a goal to achieve.

So here is my attempt. It a little taller than I would have liked, but it will work for the character he is to be.

I wanted to apply a lot of detail, which draws ones eyes from the smaller mistakes that will become unnoticeable.

Things that I have learned from this is I need a stiffer wire for the armatures the wire I used is a little flimsy. I also should set up more the one to sculpt, a little putty goes a long way in the 15mm scale projects, so I need to have back ups sculpts. I also learned that I need to tackle each sculpture in stages, making the base and the bones of body, followed by working my way up and I should either work on the head separately in order to maintain the figures height.

My Current Crew

Working a little at a time painting figures on and off  I came up with a small crew for gaming "Five Parsecs From Home, Salvage Crew". It's a mix bag of folks that I believe are going to do well in the game.

Game set up;

Combining two sets of rule or at lease the ideas of the two. Pinnacle Entertainment as a supplement set to rules "The Last Parsec: Jump Corp Guide to Interstellar Salvage" which can be found at https://www.drivethrurpg.com/ . The rules a subset of rules for "Last Parsec Core Rules" the supplement is about recovering massive ships adrift in deep dark space from massive battles long ago, dealing with a wide range of problems and hazard of salvaging such ships, to recovering survivors, running into killer robots already dismantling ships, to Slavers Ships, some hauling great riches some hazardous cargo.

With the rules from Nordic Weasel "Five Parsecs from Home Salvage Crew" a set of solo rules

Background Story;

The crew of the "Celestial Queen" all together.

The Great Galaxy War had just dwindled to an end, pretty much all sides basically ran out of rocks to throw at each other. All the boundary lines that all sides are using are the same lines that were of the Front Battle Lines.

The war was quick and massive, no one really knew what the reason for such a massive war was for. The little folks, the ones who actually did all the fighting for many of the government didn't know why, they were all just pushed into service as were any and all ships were pressed into service. Old ships pulled from old mothball fleets to salvage yards were quickly patched together just barely able to operate, refitted with some updated equipment, weapons and crew, rushed in to battle with the off chance they would get a few punches in. This same action was done on all sides for none of the governments thought that the time and cost of constructing new ships wasn't warranted for the battles were quick and fast and ever moving, loss of ship on all side were so great that the time for newer ships was just not possible if you were going to win.

Ships in these massive battle that were to greatly damaged or a drift were left behind as those that survived moved on to the next bigger battle, no recovery or rescue ships were dispatched to retrieve such ships, for many just could not spare ships for this task for all were needed in the ever shifting front lines. Space battles moved so quickly and so far apart with each side so desperate to win that many battles generally ended up with just one or two ships limping away just trying to save themselves little alone other ships in distress. It is plausible that many crew left behind on those ships may have died from failing life support or have been adrift so long they may have died from starvation, other ships may have drift into the gravitational pull of a planet or sun maybe even an asteroid and were destroyed on impact. Some in the battle areas may have drifted into each other causing further damage coming to their demised as metal on metal crushed upon each other, there could be ships out there working together pulling their resources just to survive making one large drifting habitat.

The new sectors and boundaries are setting up their governments many are launching their own search and rescue efforts for any and all ships, outposts and other facilities from all sides and to salvage as much of a those resources that they can of what is left, for resources are very very low, if none at all in some areas. Many civilian centers that would process or manufacture products of all kinds were destroyed or severely damaged. Special Offices are set up to sift through all the military orders to find official orders for ships and facilities to locate their last whereabouts. Not only were there ships sitting out there but there are other facilities out there as well observation outpost, communication  stations, supply depots to include medical stations as well, many at this point may be in dire straights at this time if not disfunctional, serverely damaged or destroyed. To add to the problem these facilities could be anywhere on asteroid, moons, planets of all kinds to even being their own station floating out there somewhere.

These ships, these SRSS (Search Rescue Salvage Ships) are set up roughly to render little medical aid and quarters if needed and to salvage as much of the ship as possible, if they can tow it back to their spaceport they will. If they can't tow it then they will leave a marking buoy to find it later on there return to salvage more of the ship till they can tow the rest home.

Now this may sound all fine and well, but with each ship or derelict encountered are new hazards such as crews still able to fight with their last and final punch maintaining the idea that they will be boarded and destroyed. Depending as to where ships are found such as planets or asteroids others could as well find new unknown creatures that has taken up residence in their new found homes. many other hazards could be engine sitting at a critical stage like a floating bomb from the crew last ditch effort to strike back, even weapons and booby traps could be laying about always standing sentry, may even be another salvage crew working it for the same government or another that are very much not willing to share in their spoils. Pirates and mercenaries as well working for anyone that willing to pay the right price.

This is the one such ship the "Celestial Queen" and her crew, out of the many out there doing what they can to recover anyone, everyone and everything. They are working out from a small space port and mining facility called "Styler's Point" on a very large planet named "Saharamanji".

Welcome to Downtown (Update)

On an earlier post about HO Scale buildings, mostly about Plasticville HO Scale Buildings, I was cruising the local Goodwill Store when I spied a box of Guidancetown Building Set in HO Scale for only $5.00, figuring for $5.00 I couldn't go wrong getting these, if it doesn't work no big lost.

I got the box home and dived right in, seems that there is some parts missing but that's okay I could make 11 buildings and set up a small town, I don't like the style of the buildings but for the moment that's fine, it does confirm that HO Scale will work for my gaming needs and I can move forward with my ideas.

I have taken some comparison pictures of 15mm figures along with the buildings.

Here is a little layout of a small town on a cutting mat that's 24 inches by 35 inches.

Here is a small Diner or Convenience Store.

Here is a small House.

Here I have one that could be a small Store of sorts.

I really like the way this Figures look in comparison to the build's scale and I can't wait to get ahold of some more HO Scale buildings, I plan to have a fair size town for running Zombie games or Alien Invasion game not to forget giant Insect games as well. In addition I will get addition buildings to create  a Post Apocalyptic environment as well.

Welcome to Downtown

After some research online that is, I found out that HO Scale Buildings may work fairly well with 15mm figures in addition they can be inexpensive, then there are some that are really pricy too pricy for what I want to do. Plus there are loads of them on eBay and Amazon. Now of course I will dig into this further to insure they will work with 15mm! plus all the accessories as well. I will Post my findings as we go.

My intent if everything works out well, is to collect as much as I need, I'm going to start with a lot of Downtown stuff. I'm going to look at some of the Plasticville range of buildings. there are a lot of them and they are rather small in foot print size for the table, they are rather cheap as well you can get many of them between $5 and $25. Plus with some paint and additional details they should work just fine. Now I have seen where the "O" scale Plasticville building work rather nicely with 28mm.

  • Police Station
  • Fire Station
  • Supermarket
  • Hardware/Pharmacy
  • 5 & Dime Store
  • Post Office
  • Burger Joint
  • Ice Cream shop
  • Bank with Drivethru
  • City Hall
  • Church
  • Gas Station
  • Auto Repair Shop
  • Men's Store
  • Hobby and Toy Store
  • Hospital
  • Dry Goods Store
  • Ladies Store
  • Theater
  • Restaurant
  • Car Dealership
Which from this list will make for a great downtown! My understanding is there maybe a couple of other buildings for a downtown area that I did not listed but I'm still looking into it more as to which ones they may be.

Now there are other buildings to make this town even bigger from the Plasticville range as well. You have to have a place for all your town folk to live in. You can see the houses below in the first row the school house and gas station in the back.

  • Factory Building
  • Split Level Home
  • Cape Cod Home
  • Ranch Style home
  • Contemporary Home
  • Two Story Home
  • House Under Construction
  • Smaller Church
  • Motel with Pool
  • Barn with Silo
  • Farm Outbuildings
I also have the intention of looking at other Ho Scale Buildings as well,  for Main Street two story flat roof type of buildings to have a place for survivors to be able to retreat too or view the horror from as well.

There is a lot of options for buildings in the HO Scale range, that I think will work for 15mm figures, and the cost for many is very low and seems they would fill a table rather well that would give any game a lot to work with. You can also buy doubles, one for an intact building and with some work it's double as a damaged or destroyed building.

I'm looking forward to using them if things work out well in Zombie games, Pulp Adventures, Alien Invasions, fighting Giant Bug Infestations, Post Apocalypse Scenarios and even AVP (Alien vs Predator) and with a variety of building it will give your Player Characters Goals and Objectives to strive for or places to run from or run too, YES RUN VERY FAST!

Yes the Objectives can be fuel tanks or power stations, You have to have a power station! How else are you going to electrocute the Aliens or the Giant Bugs! Radio Station so one could warn the people of their pending DOOM!  A Trailer Park for Alien Invasions or where the crazy guy who lives there trying to warn you and others! Oh yes the possibilities are endless.

Stargate Pleiades

Stargate Pleiades (The South America Background)

Okay so taking the whole "Stargate" Universe into account is how I plan to tie it all together.

The Ancients, launched a ship ( a Seed Ship and a Follow Ship) to seed Stargates across different Galaxies (Stargate Universe) to escape the "Wraith" and the "Replicators" (Stargate Atlantis).

Landing a Stargate on Earth and moving on to other planets in this Galaxy system planting yet more  Stargates (SG-1),

From Earth the Ancient launch another Seed Ship and a Follow Up Ship to seed (Stargate Universe)another Galaxy to escape the Goa'uld, to the Constellation system "Pleiades"

The "Seed Ship" continues to move along planting Stargates, the "Follow Up Ship" has a mishap and crash lands on a very hot steamy jungle planet. The section of the ship to which contains the Stargate has broken off and is lost somewhat to the jungle and never found, the rest of the ship is found by a not so primitive alien species "Predators". Slowly they started finding out some of the "Ancients" Tech Secrets and started moving their race forward.

Now move forward some 10,000 years or more and the "Predators" have moved on from this little world to establish "New Home Worlds" separate "Worlds" this one has just became to small for the two different clans and needs, it became just a small out of the way planet that use to use as a "Hunting Preserve" to which Humans were transported to for the "First Hunt" for very young "Predators" from time to time. As time pass this planet became just more of an out of the way place until it was just a small totally forgotten world.

Over time those Humans that survived the hunts by escaping, formed into small groups and have made this place their home. Having found the "Lost" Stargate and have moved it and the DHD ( Dial Home Device) to a central place of worship in an abandon underground city of the former occupants the "Predators"

There are two Clans of Predators each with a similar cast system, Low, Middle and the Higher cast, the Higher cast are the ones that are allowed to use ships to hunt on other worlds, the middle cast hunt on preserves and the lower cast hunt in arena settings, many are born into their cast but there are opportunities to move up in the cast system by being a better hunter. The two Clans are at odds with each other each, competing for better hunting grounds and more dangerous Prey. Just adding another reason why they have moved off this small planet

Over the past the "Predators" used humans as two things, slave labor to build their massive cities and for hunting by selecting promising humans, training them with skills and releasing them into the arenas for the hunt for the lower cast. A very few promising humans are pick for the "Hunting Preserve Worlds" from the slave labor force. Most humans that are hunted on the Hunting Preserve Worlds at taken from Earth.

Soon after the Stargate team arrives, They find themselves scouting out the underground complexes to which they make it their base camp finding hieroglyphs, drawings and other writings. As they ventured out from the underground complex, they soon discover the human inhabitants of this new world. Then they find the real threat "Predators"!

Now how do I do all this, to tie the Predators into this, if you would notice in all the Predator movies they all have some sort of tie to Central America, and because I can.
  • Predator 1: Central America.
  • Predator 2: Colombian Drug Lords and other elements from Central America and the Caribbean  Islands,  plus the ship interior had some Central American influences.
  • Alien Vs Predator: The structure found under the ice in the Antarctic looked very much like Mayan Temple.
  • Alien Vs Predator Requiem: The world to which the Predator clean up guy for lack of a better description, the location to which he launched is ship the background structures look like Mayan influences were involved.
  • Then there is all the Fan Art that shows lots of Mayan Structures.
  • Pleiades played a vey important roll in Mayan culture.

Now to tie it into Stargate. It's a weak link but it's works, it's the Ships.

Don't the Predators out riggings on their ships, look a little like the Puddle Jumper's?

Maybe a little different in design and paint but the connection works for me. If one were to find some advance technology, wouldn't they try to build it and wouldn't it come out different from the original for one would have to build it with the materials that they have and with their own comfort and needs in mind.

Now moving on to this new project.

Okay now, I have all the figures that I would need in 15mm range. I have Predators from Khurasan Miniatures and Xenomorphs (Aliens) as well. I have the Non-Stargate Team from GZG (Ground Zero Games) plus I have Marines from Peter Pig's Miniatures.

All I need now is some Aztec or Mayan figure which I can use in My Pirate Games as well, add some other figures for additional adventures, I  will have to build some Temple terrain and Jungle Terrain to which I have scores of ideas. If a keep the terrain generic I will be able to use it in other games as well Pulp Adventures, Pirates Adventures, Fantasy Adventures and other Sci-Fi games as well.

So I'm looking forward to this project, I will be working on my other projects "Barge Town", "My Terrain" and "My Pirate Game".

Burt Gummer!

Here is Burt Gummer!

So the voting took place at "The Miniatures Page" and the Tan and Red won!

So I started with Peter Pigs heads with baseball caps.

Oh yeah and this guy From Highlanders Studios.

So I lobbed of the head of poor "Roger" the gun toting Survivalist. Bore a hole where the neck should be the make sure I had enough stem of the new head to insert into the hole with super glue.

Add some paint and Ta Da  Burt Gummer!

Okay so it doesn't really look like Burt Gummer more like Nintendo's Mario or younger Jesse Ventura.

This is to show that you can change figures and with the right paint work you can make any character you want for the your gaming needs.

Have fun with your figures like I have, I hope to others and their work too.

Burt Gummer Vote

Okay so I'm getting ready to do a head swap with this figure,

With heads from Peter Pig that are a new item wearing baseball caps! Now the question is not whether  are not to do the head swap that's going to happen, but what color of cap to give him afterwards.

Which of the Atlanta Hawks ball caps do I go with?

Do I go white with the red lettering?

Or do I go with the tan with the red lettering from the original move!

And the there is the white cap with the red bill and red lettering?

So I have a week off from work coming up and to which I plan to do a lot of hobby work this being one of many. Myself, I'm leaning towards  the tan and red I'm just curious  as to others opinions .

New Far Trader

Okay checking out the local second hand store, came across this great ship that is a Fisher Price of some sort, of a space shuttle but would look the part of a Far Trader sitting in port.

Here you can see just how big it is compared to a couple of 15mm figures.

You can see with the right paint job and with added panels and gizmos this thing is going to be great!

So now I have several large ships of about this size so I could have a very full spaceport, now I just need to work on landing pads, some operation building, control tower and warehouses, I have several vehicle that would work really well for a port as well thrown in to the mix and it will be a great port for adventures!

It will also look great on those planets that just need a close look as well!
